The Oak House sits on the ground floor of One City Center on West Main Street, in the middle of downtown Durham.

Good to know

Wi-Fi, Tables, Groups and Catering

The Oak House is a comfortable place to work, meet and gather. Here is how we run the room, so you know what to expect before you arrive.

Wi-Fi

Free for guests. No sign-up, no minimum, no time limit. The only rule is the obvious one: nothing malicious.

Tables

Tables are for paying guests.

Laptops at the bar

We ask that you close the laptop at the bar after 5:00 p.m. It is a request rather than a rule, and it keeps the bar feeling like a bar in the evening. Tables are fair game at any hour.

Reserving a table

Tables can be reserved at no charge for parties of six or more. Call us and we will hold one.

Groups and private events

We host semi-private and fully private events. Call with your date, group size and rough timing and we will tell you what is possible.

Office catering

We cater for offices: pastries, and travelling coffee with cups and everything that goes with it. Order through Toast, and the more notice you can give us the better.

Paying

We take cards, and we take cash. If you are paying cash, exact change is a real help. Pennies and small bills have been hard to come by.
